FACT: There are five species and 11 subspecies of rhinos surviving on earth. Two species (Black and White) occur in Africa. Three species (Greater One-horned rhino, Javan, and Sumatran) occur in Asia.

MYTH: Rhinos stomp out fires when they come across them. This myth was instigated by the movie, The Gods Must Be Crazy.The fright and flight reaction in animals is very strong and Rhinos will steer clear of a fire.

FACT: Thousands and especially millions of years ago, rhinos were more diverse, widespread and abundant. Rhinos occurred in North America and Europe as well as in Africa and Asia

MYTH: Rhino-horn is an aphrodisiac. Rhino-horn is simply Rhino-horn and has no special properties to increase sexual libido. A qualified Doctor will fare better in that department
